Public Health

From 1 April 2013, responsibility for monitoring and promotion of public health will transfer from NHS Gloucestershire to Gloucestershire County Council.

The Gloucestershire Health and Wellbeing Board (which includes representation from Gloucestershire CCG) will lead on looking at the health and social care needs of the population.

The Shadow Gloucestershire Health and Wellbeing Board set up this year is already developing a vision for Health and Wellbeing in Gloucestershire looking at public health priorities and looking at how individuals, communities and local organisations can help to make the county healthier.

It is hoped that the changes to Public Health will increase democratic accountability and the public voice and strengthen public health services.
