Joint statement from Gloucestershire’s STP NHS and Care partners

“We have been fully briefed on the developments concerning the financial position of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the proactive steps taken by the Trust, including the decision to commission a full independent review of financial and governance arrangements.

We acknowledge the pressures facing the Trust, but believe strongly that moving forward, the right leadership is in place to stabilise their finances and to ensure that their internal procedures and oversight arrangements are strengthened.

We are committed to working in positive partnership with them to tackle the underlying challenges that face not only the Trust, but the whole health and care system. By placing greater emphasis on prevention of illness, supporting more self-care, providing more joined up care and support in the community and developing our workforce locally, we can all contribute to managing demand and cost pressures at the acute trust, including reducing medical and nursing agency costs. Providing high quality, safe patient care when needed will remain a top priority throughout.

We know that the Trust intends to provide further details on actions that will be taken following the outcome of the independent governance review and we will continue to work closely with both the Trust and NHS Improvement.”
