Vaccination teams in Gloucestershire have been congratulated once again as the latest figures confirm that 90% of people over 16 in the county have had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccines.
The news comes as the NHS continues to encourage people still in need of a vaccination to come forward for their jabs as soon as they can, with booked and drop-in clinics planned at a variety of locations in the coming weeks.

“We’re delighted that local people have been so supportive and enthusiastic about the vaccination programme and to know that at least 90% of our residents over 16 have taken up the offer of at least one jab is incredible.
I am so proud of my colleagues across the health and care family and the voluntary and community sector, not to mention the hundreds of willing volunteers who have been giving up their time for so long now to help the vaccination effort.
The most important message is that it’s not too late; there is still time to change your mind and take up the offer of a vaccine if you’ve been unsure about it so far. We’ve been really encouraged by the number of people coming forward for a first dose in recent weeks, and our teams will continue vaccinating on a daily basis, offering booked and drop-in clinics across the county at a variety of locations.
We’re particularly keen to encourage parents of children aged 12 to 15 to bring them to one of our vaccination sites for a first or second dose, as well as those young adults who weren’t able to get their booster before Christmas because they’d had COVID recently.”
The bulk of vaccinations continue to be provided by appointment through the 11 PCN community vaccination centres across the county, but there are walk in clinics and also an increasing number of ‘pop-up’ clinics taking place at community venues even closer to where people live, including mosques or churches, cafes, community centres and homeless centres.
People may also choose to arrange their vaccination by appointment at a community pharmacy or the JabVan through the national booking system (NBS) telephone number and website (www.nhs.uk/covidvaccination or call 119).
In addition, over the coming weeks, the School-Aged Immunisation Service, delivered by Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust (GHC), will be scheduling further visits to secondary schools across the county, vaccinating 12-to-15-year olds with first or second doses.
