Dr Jeremy Welch “A new ‘three digit’ NHS telephone service will be introduced in Gloucestershire in Spring next year, making it easier for the public to access local health services when their need is urgent, but not an emergency.

It will complement 999 and GP surgery telephone services and it will provide initial medical assessment, advice and referral to other services if needed. In partnership with other healthcare professionals, our role is to make sure that the service best meets local needs and circumstances.

We have been working with all providers of urgent care locally and local GPs to ensure that we have a ‘joined up’ approach and a directory of services that reflects what is available to support and care for patients in our county.

It’s about right care, in the right place at the right time and we will continue to work closely with local clinicians to get the best possible service for Gloucestershire.”
