Following discussions with Gloucestershire County Council’s Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee our Trust is working to increase the opening times of its Minor Injuries and Illness Units, which had been reduced as part of our response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Trust closed three MIIUs and revised the opening hours of the other four units in April. This allowed us to ensure we had sufficient cover during a period of pressure on NHS staff, as well as allowing a review of social distancing measures.

Tewkesbury MIIU reopened on Tuesday 25 August (8am to 8pm), while Vale MIIU will reopen from 10am to 6pm in early October. The opening hours at four other units (Cirencester, Stroud, North Cotswolds and Lydney) are being extended by two hours until 8pm. We will update this website as the new hours come into effect.

The MIIU at Dilke Hospital remains closed because the layout of the unit makes it challenging to comply with social distancing guidance.

These new hours will allow us to continue to provide a safe and resilient service, and one which we believe will meet the vast majority of demand, while we work towards resuming our normal opening hours.
