Cardiovascular (heart) disease is the leading cause of premature death and disability in England.

Our ambition is to increase the detection and treatment of high risk conditions such as high blood pressure or cholesterol and atrial fibrillation (a heart condition that causes an irregular and often abnormally fast heart rate), to reduce the number of strokes and heart attacks in Gloucestershire.

If you are worried about the health of your heart, speak to your GP.

Your GP may refer you to specialists in heart care, the cardiology team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

After heart surgery or a heart attack,  the cardiac rehabilitation team at Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust will support you during your recovery with things like exercise, education and self-care.

Patients with suspected heart failure may be referred to the heart failure team.
