What is the NHS in Gloucestershire doing?

Gloucestershire CCG will:

  • Commission (buy) high quality general and specialist health services for people with learning disabilities
  • Jointly commission (buy) services for people who challenge services and those with complex needs
  • Work with Local Authorities and others to address the social factors which can affect the health of people with learning disabilities.

CCGs need to give particular consideration to commissioning (buying) services for people with learning disabilities because they experience poorer health than the general population, differences which are to a large extent avoidable.

Inclusion Gloucestershire is a user-led self advocacy organisation for people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism or mental ill health.

Self advocacy means that people can learn to speak up for themselves and others.
